Drylander is a subsidiary of Blue Tongue Australia Pty Ltd. We have been involved in the surfing industry since 1966 & the carpet industry since 1975. We made our first surfboard on mum's back verandah in 1971 & our first hand made surfboard shaped rug in the garage in 1976. The inspiration came from always wanting to take a piece of the beach home with us. Now we can. At work or at home - "Never stop surfin' dudes !".
In recent years surfboard rugs have become more widely known globally & much more popular with many, even non surf culture buyers. They ARE coool !!! There are now many brands in the market place with quality & funtionality ranging from very good (& usually very expensive) to down right terrible. With our extensive experience both in & out of the water plus access to processes & master craftsmen in both industries, Drylander have produced a range of surfboard rugs that are truly unique in many ways.
The construction & durability are second to none in the world. While remaining soft & luxurious Drylander Surfboard Rugs are made from top quality, stain resistant, synthetic yarns. This not only gives them superior longevity but affords them (unlike their woolen counterparts) more vibrant colours that are permanent, non fade, allergy free, extremely easy to clean & won't pill or fluff like wool.
All of our shapes are taken from REAL surfboards with templates supplied by some of the best shapers on Sydney's Northern Beaches. Last but certainly not least our surfoard rugs are substantially cheaper than many other imported versions.

The Malaboard range: These boards are our heavy weight, super luxury model. They are 'available in both malibu & shortboard shapes, four sizes - 4', 6', 7'6" & 9'. Malibu's are available in three designs & seven colours. Other colours, sizes & designs can be custom ordered, even with your own personalised logo (minimum order of 25). These boards have a unique hand tufted stringer to minimise warping, hand carved stripes & are made from the best Japanese synthetic yarns available. They are not only lovely & soft to the touch but are colour fast, easy clean & will last for years to come.
The Shoreboard range: (temporarily out of stock)These little beauties are truly special. Two sizes - 3'6'' & 7'6''. Stripes or Hibiscus flower pattern in a huge range of colour combinations. Shaped like baby "mal's" these boards are made from highly durable solution dyed polypropylene yarn tufted into a non slip rubber backing (similar to bathroom carpet). They have a worldwide exclusive binding that allows them to keep their great shape and colour wash after wash. That's right ! They ARE washable. Scrub in the tub, hose 'em off & chuck 'em over the line or back fence to drip dry. These boards sell like proverbial hot cakes in the U.S. They are low cost, durable & very user friendly.
